Privacy Policy

Open Class Australia (“Open Class”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, display name, and role (dancer or creator). A display name you choose is shown publicly; your email is not.
• Booking information: the classes you book, payment status, and booking history.
• Creator information: class listings, venue details, earnings, and your linked Stripe Connect account details.
• Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number; Stripe handles card data securely.
• Usage and device information: approximate location (city), device type, browser, and how you interact with the platform, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
• Communications: messages you send us and support requests.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• operate and maintain the marketplace, including creating and managing your account;
• process bookings, payments, refunds, and creator payouts;
• send you booking confirmations, receipts, and notices about classes you have booked;
• send notifications you have enabled, such as new classes from creators you follow;
• provide customer support and respond to enquiries;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and other prohibited conduct;
• improve and develop the platform.

3. Marketing

If you have marketing notifications enabled, we may send you promotional content. You can opt out at any time in Settings under Notifications, or by following the unsubscribe instructions in any message.

4. Sharing your information

We share personal information only as necessary to run the marketplace:

• With creators: when you book a class, the creator receives your name and booking details so they can run the class.
• With Stripe: to process payments and creator payouts, in line with Stripe’s own privacy practices.
• Service providers: trusted third parties that help us operate (for example, hosting and email delivery), under obligations to protect your information.
• As required by law: where we are legally compelled, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of people or the platform.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features.

6. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal or accounting obligations. When you delete your account, we remove or de-identify your personal information, except where we are required to keep records (for example, tax and transaction records).

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Payment card data is handled by Stripe and is not stored by Open Class.

8. Your rights

Under the APPs, you generally have the right to access and correct the personal information we hold about you. You can update your display name in Settings, and you can request a copy of your information or ask us to correct it by contacting us. You can also delete your account from Settings.

9. Children

Open Class is not directed at children under 18 for account creation. A parent or guardian may book a class on behalf of a minor. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for account purposes. If you believe we have, please contact us.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed by our service providers outside Australia (for example, Stripe and cloud hosting). Where this happens, we take steps consistent with the APPs to ensure your information is protected.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date it was last updated. Continued use of Open Class after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
